We keep saying money can’t buy you happiness but it can, using the act of giving (watch this touching ad about giving and karma). I couldn’t agree more with Michael Norton when he mentions how disastrous life becomes after someone wins a huge sum of money, especially when the winner has no standards or morals he/she sticks by.
A while back I found out that bananas are the only fruit that contains amino acid typrophand and vitamin B6 which combined produce serotonin. Serotonin is a natural chemical that weakens depression and cheers you up. So whenever I’m down I go have a strawberry/banana shake or just a plain banana. I don’t know if it will work for everyone but it is an instant mood booster for me.
I notice that a lot of people stick to weight machines rather than learning how to use free weights because they believe that the machines will correct their form and insure that they don’t hurt themselves. On the surface this makes sense, right? I mean, why would companies invest so much money developing these machines if they are not better than free weights?
you pick them up, you put them back. Don’t leave dumbbells / barbels / weights / workout mats just lying there. Your mom doesn’t live here, so please clean up after yourself. I see this happen in every gym I go to, and it is annoying and inconsiderate. Furthermore, it can be a safety hazard. There have been many cases in the gym where people trip over dumbbells or barbels left on the floor (happened to me personally).
Some people do return the weights, but the problem is that they don’t return them to their proper place! For example, they take out a pair of 10 KG dumbbells, and return them to the place of where 50 KG dumbbells should be! I understand that sometimes people don’t find the proper place for the weight free, but if it is then put it there. Same goes for the weight rack.
Some gyms such as OXYGEN have people who just go around to put back the weights, which is sad in my opinion. It’s not enough we have maids cleaning after us at home, but now we have that in the gym too? I remember a few weeks ago when I saw a huge guy in the gym, and he actually snapped his fingers at the cleaner and told him to add his weights on the machine for him!! Talk about lazy! If you can’t add or put back your own weights, then you should just go home!
This example is an extreme example, but it does highlight the habit of laziness in us that we need to address. We are all guilty of forgetting to return our weights once in a while, but try to keep in mind how it might affect others.

I got a tour at Gold’s Gym a few days ago and the place is huge. It covers pretty much everything a guy would want from a gym, including an MMA academy which beginners can take part in free of charge. The place is around 4 floors and is almost ready to open. There are a few things that make this gym standout.
Almost every Gold’s Gym in the world has a ‘Cardio Cinema‘. Instead of your regular cardio you go to a dark room and watch one of the latest movies out there. I’m definitely not going to be watching a 2 hour movie but I like the idea being different. It’s a good alternative if there isn’t anything nice to watch on TV.
Myth: You need to kill your muscles with many exercises and not rest more than one day a week in order to see good results!
False! I always hear this myth a lot whether in the gym, from my clients, potential clients, and friends. I see them doing exercises for each individual muscle and staying more than two hours on the weight training alone! Some also join more than 3 exercise classes a day in addition to their weight training. They don’t rest much during the week, and prefer to take two days off maximum a week. In this article I will discuss the risks involved in over training, their negative effects, and what is the right way to plan your exercise program.
Bayan Clinic asked if I was interested in having a tour at their new branch in Jahra and having my teeth polished whitened there, I said sure. It’s actually my second time in Jahra so I’m unfamiliar with the place but Bayan Clinic isn’t so hard to reach, I posted a map at the bottom of the post.
The place is huge and is as white as it gets as you can imagine. I think it’s their biggest branch yet. Most rooms contain the same equipment, just different doctors. They’ve bought new advanced scanning machines that go through a full scan in less than a minute.
A reader was so upset after finding these rotten tomatoes he sent them over. This doesn’t only happen in Sultan Center by the way, Co-Ops normally have a good portion of rotten fruits too. Always double check fruits before purchasing them, even though that should have been already done by staff.
