For those that only hear about Wasta but haven’t seen or experienced it, this short video draws a pretty accurate picture. A person can’t get what he wants, throws in a phone call, everything changes. The actual talk of the ‘wasta’ asking staff to sign the papers is replaced with singing in the footage.
To Kuwaiti’s who are studying in the States, please don’t drive around the US with pressure cookers inside your car’s trunk. As that might get you detained and interrogated for 3 hours, although you just wanted to cook rice and chicken, they see otherwise.
Two Kuwaiti’s were detained because of two pressure cookers they had inside the car according to nypost, pressure cookers are used in many terrorism bombings so they do pop up red flags when they are seen. It’s a good thing I don’t know how to cook.
I know sheep prices bump up during Eid but I had no idea it can get this serious. Just when I thought the rooster sold for KD 2000 was overdoing it comes a sheep that was sold for KD 80,000, that’s 40 times more expensive. This gives a new meaning the term, luxury sheep. The sheep was named ‘The German’, after Germany won the world cup. The previous record was KD 65,000. [Source]
I thought Saudi Arabia came first place but not according to a recent report by VisitBritain, which are the British Tourist Authority. On average a Kuwaiti would spend £4,000, which is almost KD 2,000 per trip. While a French person for example would spend a fraction of that price at £343 (~KD 170).[Source]
This is a great idea I’ve long been waiting for. Ever since I started using wireless charging I fell in love with it, mind you iPhone users. It would be super convenient to jump in the car, put my phone next to me while it charges automatically while receiving calls via Bluetooth on the car’s speakers. Except I don’t want a Cadillac, hopefully all car brands will implement wireless charging soon.
We have Jaber Stadium, which leaves terrible mark in Kuwait’s history. A beautiful stadium that has never opened up because it can’t withstand the weight of a full stadium. Then we have a rumour that Nottingham Forest has plans to get a sponsorship deal by the Kuwaiti government and getting the stadium changed to Kuwait City Ground. Knowing the Kuwaiti government I doubt this rumour is true but it would be really nice having a stadium in
London Britain named after Kuwait.
The news these days, it never gets boring. A woman has filed a complaint to Daiya Police Station accusing a ghost of trying to strangle her to death inside her house. I’m not sure how the police will go about and prosecute the ghost, but they did tell her to go see a psychiatrist, in which case she got really angry and made a fuss.
I passed by X-Cite the other day and found out about a different kind of warranty which people has been asking for. The warranty covers liquid spills, electric surge, broken display, cracks and other accidental damages. They’ll fix it for free, but I think only once. This makes me not worry about my phone’s screen when I get a new phone.
