Just last month I wrote about how Saudi Arabia was lucky to get in the list of accepting money from apps on Google Play. Google has now announced that Kuwait and UAE can now release paid apps. I know many developers that have been waiting for this. I might release a paid app for the fun of it, get 1 download (myself).
Kuwait is popular for many things, hacking isn’t one of them; or so I thought. According to a recent report from Microsoft, they’ve successfully disrupt communications channels between hackers in Kuwait and Algeria. The hackers have developed a malware that has infected more than 7 million devices.
Even Microsoft is surprised, “We never seen malware coded outside Eastern Europe that is as big as this”.[Source]
The list below is a combination of organizations that contacted me or ones that I found about. I haven’t tried any yet so feel free to donate money or your leftover food and comment as to how things went.
1. Give Hope to Smile
They’re an organization with a Facebook page that accepts donations in money, 800 fils per futoor meal for 1 person (KD 24 donation = 30 futoor meals for example). The meal includes rice, meat/chicken, gravy, laban, a piece of fruit and dates. They’ve been actively donating food for the needy since last year. The food they serve is fresh, not left over.
Contact Info: Call 97430512
2. Feeding Kuwait
This is a new non-profit organization with the same goals as the one above, except every meal costs KD 1. I’m not sure what every meal includes but they just launched they’re instagram page [here]. The food they serve is fresh, not left over.
Contact Info: Email Info@FeedingKuwait.com
I’ve heard about this organization from more than 1 source but have no idea about how they handle food, all I do know is they accept leftover food and they will pick it up from your destination wherever you are free of charge.
Contact Info: Call 24830050 or 24830040
I’m looking for two types of organizations to spread the word about. The first are those that collect leftover food from houses and donate it those that don’t have anything to eat. The second type of organization is one where people could participate in helping the needy, whether to prepare futoor or give a hand.
Last year there was Donate Your Time with Bibi Al Ayoub, I think she’s still active but I need to check. There was also donate your leftover food with Think.Eat.Save organization. If you know any organization doing something this Ramadan please [contact me].
Feels as if discipline has been having a downgrade every generation. A group of students went a rampage at one of the schools in Jahra breaking teacher cars simply because the school had strict rules in preventing students from cheating, basically the teachers got their cars damaged for doing their job. This isn’t the first time this has happened, students in Riqqa recently burnt a teachers car.
Kuwait’s Cyber Crime account has posted warnings about an organized team involving females targeting male Kuwaitis on skype. The girl gets to know the guy then asks him to talk a video of himself involving nudity (presumably in exchange for something) and then would blackmail him threatening to make the video public if he doesn’t send money. Alternatively, they could just ask people not to be stupid and send very private videos to girls then randomly just met on the internet.
A recent legal study showed there are two murder cases in Kuwait every day and 806 crimes in total committed yearly. What shocked more than the murder rate was the fact that the study has shown the majority of divorce cases in Kuwait included either kidnaping the children from one parent or murder. You can read the details of the study [here].
Jokes aside, this is one of the stores that made me blink twice when I had a quick road trip to Khafje (Saudi Arabia) to finish some banking paperwork. We also spotted Saudi Fried Chicken, which my friend tried and said wasn’t bad. Spotted a gaming store with Playstation 1 logo on it. It’s like this city and Kuwait are 10 years apart.
Unfortunately I now have to watermark my photos with this ugly spanning text but frankly I am fed up of news channels like KuwaitUPTODate stealing my photos or content pretending they’ve randomly found out about it, even worse sticking their logo on it as if they had authorized exclusive rights to it or they took it themselves (zero ethics).
Like when I posted about my friend meeting the staff behind the new bank note. Unsurprisingly it was up on his page hours later. Ironically he even mentioned who was who on the photo which was something that wasn’t mentioned on my friends instagram post (even if I were to give him the benefit of doubt). It was only written on my blog. Of course this isn’t the first time this has happened (I can list more) which is why i’m getting fed up of this unethical and unprofessional behavior, other channels are doing it too and for some reason it’s mostly Facebook Pages.
I have nothing against using my content or my photos, as long as there’s proper crediting with a link back to my blog. I know the owner of that page will be reading this which is why I’m writing it. Channels in Kuwait seem to hate giving credit when needed, you only make more enemies that way. It might be time to make a change.
