I very recently wrote about alnowair, the non-profit organization that wants to basically put a smile on everyone. Well I passed by an event they were having that’s open to the public today and tomorrow which to me was a breath of fresh air. They have 9 scientifically proven exercises that make you feel better and as a result, smile.
I’m not going to go into detail of each exercise because I don’t want to ruin it for those interested and want to pass by. The location of the place is on the map at the bottom of this post. Before you try any exercise you get a leaflet containing the history of the exercise and why it should make you feel better.
One of the things you notice there is almost everything is yellow. The walls, the balloons the flowers, the papers etc. As it turns out, yellow is psychologically the happiest color in the entire color spectrum. It stimulates the mental processes along with the nervous system, activates memory and encourages communication.
One of the most interesting exercises was the one I call smiling pencil. Studies have shown putting a pencil in your mouth moves the same muscles that make you smile which tricks the brain into thinking you’re smiling and alters blood flow. This can trigger the feeling of pleasure. I should keep one of those with me at all times.
