I attented the bloggers gathering following a ‘ghabga’ yesterday. What’s interesting about this is it would have never happened a couple of years ago. The boom of the blogosphere in Kuwait and how people are taking interest is taking bloggers to new boarders. It was clear a lot of effort was spent organizing the event, the press were there as well.
My apologies for the blurry video, I didn’t realize I was off focus until I stopped recording. Mishari Al Mothahka explains in Arabic the power of blogging and how they can effect masses with their opinion. He talks about how Barack Obama is using a blog to reach people. And how some blogs get more views than an entire newspaper.
A few bloggers then went on stage including Bloglaish and HiKuwait to discuss with Barakat Al Wegyan everything from blogging about someone’s personal life to blogging to make a difference. I noticed none of the blogs present discussed politics, which is a red line when it comes to blogging. It was an interesting event overall.
I would like to point out that I wish there was just one group for bloggers to gather and have quality time with one another. I don’t see it necessary to have several groups and who knows what other groups are coming soon in the future. But I guess different gatherings have different intentions at the end of the day.
