I haven’t been to Sultan Center’s restaurant almost since childhood but was invited to try out their new Egyptian menu that’s available every Thursday starting from 7 pm. I was surprised by the amount of Egyptian food I didn’t even know existed, always thought Om Ali dessert was Kuwaiti, but it was Egyptian after all.
During the Egyptian night they offer grilled corn, tormus, falafel eggs and a lot of Egyptian based appetizers. The buffet is all you can eat and they charge 7.5 KD entrance fee per person. There were so many things to pick from including Koshari, Macroni Bashamal, Monokhiya, Seeman, Kawaraa’. I put them some of them in a gallery below
These photos are just a small portion on what is being offered in the buffet, there’s a big salad and dessert section that also includes popular Egyptian dishes. The food was pretty good overall, I was really stuffed when I was done because the issue is you never know when to stop eating when it’s an open buffet.
I got to try a popular drink they have called Indian Date and it tasted super sweet, would recommend having it after you are finished eating or else you will feel pretty full. If I were to pick a favourite dish it would be the Macaroni one, it was heavy but the taste was worth it.
Sultan Center Restaurant (Jean’s Grill) also currently has a 50% discount on their breakfast which is also a buffet. I might come back during Ramadan to have futoor or suhoor there as I feel the food was also oriented towards things I would normally eat during Ramadan, according to the manager the whole place is fully booked during that month.
