I love the video that Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior released, it really resonates with the situation and problems we face in Kuwait when it comes to voting. I know of very few who are actually voting for someone in the parliament because they believe they will make Kuwait prosper.
The video covers 3 types of common voters:
Tribal (Ethnic Group) Influence: These are the candidates that ask you to vote from them because you are both from the same tribe, and you might feel inclined to vote for him so your tribe has a stronger presence and more influence in big decisions. Which shouldn’t be the case, you should look for the candidate that supports equality and human rights.
Religious Sect Influence: This candidate will try to strongly push his influence on you simply because you two share the same beliefs when it comes to religion, whether Sunni or Sheeie.
Money Influence: The third candidate in the video is the one that will try to bribe someone for a vote, it’s not about the tribe or religious sect anymore, it’s about the money. Selling your vote is possibly the worst thing you can do to your country.
The video ends with all three voters voting for the 4th person, the one that looks out for the best interests of Kuwait, which is who every person should be voting for. It shouldn’t be about families, tribes, sects. There’s a lot that needs to be fixed in Kuwait, like a book worth of content to talk about, not just a blog post. Vote for the person who will bring change for the better, for everyone.
