wikileads kuwait bloggers Kuwaits Bloggers Mentioned on WikiLeaks After reading a full article posted in 2005 that got released yesterday about the future of blogging in Kuwait I was just mind blown. The article isn’t supposed to be disturbed publicly but wikileaks is all about leaking data. In this article “Nibaq” and “Talal” get mentioned. Nibaq was mentioned for having the first blogger aggregator and I’m not sure who Talal is.

They mention that bloggers are mostly young in their mid-twenties, smart and male. That has dramatically changed within the past 6 years since we have bloggers as young as lujain all the way to grandparents blogging. The article also discusses that there were bloggers gatherings (around 10 people) back in 2005.

It is interesting to see what the blogosphere was like 6-7 years ago. Much has changed, and little has stayed the same. Most notably companies are a lot more interactive with bloggers today with all the events and gatherings. On a less positive note, bloggers can also get sued for stating their opinion. Looking forward to seeing what 2016+ holds for the bologsphere.

Aaaah the blogosphere cerca 2005!! Those were the days, before blogging became commercialized and bloggers conspired with the Internet providers to enforce the caps!

I think back in the day all I knew was 248am, and I didn’t know other blogs existed.

Crazy and scary. Who wrote the report? And for what purpose?

Scary, to think that some foreign entity is monitoring the activity of our youth here in Kuwait. And they know what we’re thinking and where we’re heading and the mainstream interests!

    Absolutely crazy.

Someone from the American Embassy wrote this report. According to Talal that wrote a comment on Mark’s post. They were informed that he was from the embassy and that he was going to write a report. So it wasn’t really spying.
