Carrier IQ Scandal Ineffective in Kuwait
The application initially found by an Android developer on his device that keylogged almost everything he did had people outraged. The application Carrier IQ silently worked even when your phone was set to Airplane Mode. This application is used by pretty much all brands including and not limited to Nokia, BlackBerry, Android and Apple.
It is initially the Telecommunication companies that request this application to be installed on devices they sell. Meaning Carrier IQ is normally spotted on contract devices, not unlocked ones. I’ve checked my device which I got from Zain a few months back and it was clean. To my knowledge Carrier IQ is not effecting Kuwait or this region.
Update: RIM announces a statement saying they don’t install Carrier IQ on any of their devices[Link]
Update II: I asked all Telecoms about this issue, so far only Zain have responded.

Selling them “sealed and not opened” has nothing to do with the issue, as the reques can be made to the manufacturer to include it when it ships.
Android has an app in the Android Market that can check for CArrier IQ without the need of root access:

or
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.simplecarrieriqdetector
simply install and run. I can’t cx on my devices cause I never purchased a device from a carrier here in Kuwait and also I installed Cyanogenmod on all of my devices :)
True, they probably didn’t know that. Didn’t want to argue with them. Thanks for the application tip.
