It’s one thing to build a game inspired by a popular game, and another to have a complete in-your-face rip-off of a game. I’m a big Clash Royale fan and was shocked when I found out about Tribal Mania, which is basically the same game except they hired a graphic designer to design different characters, to not, you know, have it as copy-paste and risk being taken off the Google Play Store.
Tribal Mania’s interface as you can see below is as is, chests are at the bottom, battle button in the middle, free chests top left and your stats at the top. It’s very easy developing a game when everything is laid out for you I suppose. At least they changed the stadium names, instead of Goblin Stadium, you get Souk Al Mubarkeiya, massive points of creativity.
All the screenshots below I took myself.
Then you get the settings panel, which not only is the same, but they also decided to have similar colors because you know, why not. The game mode is obviously the same too, except you get different characters. The ‘Giant’ is still the ‘Giant’, but he just looks different, but they did go as far as renaming some cards.
The card stats are almost identical, I’m just trying to imagine how easy it was developing this game. Copy/pasting has never been simpler, although they haven’t released new cards, you only have the first 2 legendaries in the game. Their game designers must be exhausted from all the work.
I really don’t understand how Clash Royale, the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store are okay with this? Doesn’t this completely butcher creativity knowing my hard work of building a solid game can be stolen this easily? What’s worse is they make money out of it too.
