This has been the first time I’ve tried scaling and polishing. My experience was surprisingly informative, the procedure involves removing plagues. Which are infected deposits namely tartar or calculus. For those worrying about the procedure being painful, it wasn’t at all. If by any chance you experience pain, just put your hand up and the dentist will stop immediately.
You first start off with the scaler. What I liked most about the scaler was that it also sprays a cooling mist of water while it cleans your mouth to keep it in proper tempreture. Most of the cleaning will be focused on places you don’t normally clean with your toothbrush like the backer part of your tooth.
After the scaling is done, you move on to the polisher. This is a simple step of polishing your teeth to avoid giving bacteria the right conditions to thrive. They put Vaseline on my lips because the liquid used was salty. All I could taste was salt at the time. Too bad I wasn’t carrying around some French fries with me.
Lastly comes the polishing paste. Once all surfaces are smooth the dentist will start polishing your teeth with paste. Bayan Dental offers fluoride with their paste so I ended up with a strawberry taste. Their are many different tastes like chocolate, mint, cherry, watermelon and pina colada though I don’t know if they are offered.
An extra step I took was getting an impression for the bleaching try. If you plan on purchasing Bayan Dental’s Go Smile Kit they will take an impression of the structure of your teeth. This part I will review separately after trying it out and comparing the before and after whiteness of my teeth.
Overall the experience was satisfying. The lower part of my mouth feels different now and I should get use to it. The dentist I dealt with was Dr. May Omar. Branch is located in Kuwait City on the 6th floor of Khurafi Tower.
