I got to try Container 75 yesterday and I’m glad the place wasn’t just about the looks. For those who haven’t read my previous post about the place, it was built by literally putting two containers on top of each other(more details here). They nicely organized the tables, the place looks bigger once you’re inside. Official opening is today at 5pm.
It was a spicy start up I suppose. The Jalapeno Poppers were spicy but tasty, they came with cheddared cheese and a special sauce. I’m not normally a fan of spicy food but those I recommend for everyone, since they’re worth trying.
Then came the Sticky Buffalo Chicken. The breaded chicken was with honey buffalo sauce which gave it a sweetish taste. I like how all their starters apart from the fries come with a sauce on the side. The chicken breasts were cooked with just the right duration.
This would have been my least favourite dish, the Beef Salad. Though it looked amazing for me, it didn’t taste much. However, it is worth a try if you are a beef lover. The salad comes with rocca, pine nuts and apricot. They have a chicken caesar salad which I’m likely to try on the next visit.
I’ve never tried fries with sweet sauce before so this one is a first. The Sweet Chili Fries is recommended, it’s nothing like what you would have in Johnny Rockets. Tastes very different since the sweetness plays a big role here.
We managed to keep just enough space for the sliders but we had no idea how much dessert was coming after that. The sliders we tried were Container 75, Toledo, Pearl Harbor and Cancun Port. You can already tell the guys got creative with naming the food. They were all pretty good since the meat tasted great. My favourite was Toledo, it had cheese, mushroom and a special sauce.
Toffee Ice Cream was really good. Ingredients were caramel ice cream, pecan nuts, flakes of corn and walnuts with caramel sauce. This dessert is edible for one person, but the dessert after this one certainly isn’t.
They called this dessert Knock Out Pudding for a pretty good reason I guess. I liked it but it will fill you up in no time. I would recommend this chocolate filled plate with digestive biscuits for at least two people.
I was impressed by the food overall, I’m just hoping it stays that way over time. I hate when I like a place and come back months later to find the food doesn’t taste as good as it use to. I have high hopes for this place, they’ve started off creatively. Was nice meeting some blogger friends, the place almost turned to a food photo shoot.
