A day before Ramadan I decided to sneak in one more review. Having complained about how Maki’s quality and service was degrading, the Japanese place Meli Melo was recommended by my fellow bloggers. The staff were mostly Indian so I didn’t get the Japanese feel but apart from that the food was pretty good. The place is pretty small but cosy, a map is available at the end of the post.
I started off with the Melange Salad which in my opinion is one of the best Japanese salads I have tried. It’s a mix of lettuce, cucumber onion and avocado. It can easily fill you up since the plate is pretty big so you might want to share this salad with one or two people.
Next comes the Tatsuta-age deep fried chicken. I was surprised it didn’t come with a sauce, just a slice of lemon so you will have to ask them to add a sauce for you. They do somewhat taste like Kentucky’s pop corn chicken except bigger pieces. Which does make sense since they were cooked pretty much the same way.
The Chicken Katso w/ Curry looked relatively small on the menu. Turned out much bigger than expected. It doesn’t come with the rice so you’ll have to order it yourself. Although the meal itself is enough to fill your stomach up. The chicken was a delight, but I must say I liked Wagamama’s curry sauce more.
My friend had the Yaki-Soba Noodles with shrimp. He really liked it and would definitely go for it again. In total it was 12KD which is very reasonable in comparison with the quality of the food. The place is worth trying, but you will struggle to find a place to park. You can also try their home delivery, the full menu is available here.
