I was invited a few days ago to try out Naz, a Persian restaurant located in Bayan. I liked how they gave a Persian atmosphere through the design and layout of the place(images can be seen in the gallery below). I got to try shrimp in a Persian restaurant, something I didn’t know they offered. I always thought it was all about the kebab and mixed grills.
We started off with complimentary bread and hummus then moved to the soup. The soup, Ash Reshteh had black beans, lentils and vegetables drizzled with olive oil then topped with yoghurt and onion. Tasted pretty good but wasn’t light.
The Mixed Grill had kebab, chicken and shrimp. The kebab was well cooked as well as the chicken which I found under cooked in many other restaurants that offer mixed grills. Problem with mix grills most of the time, chefs focus on the kebab and barely cook the chicken right. I do recommend trying their shrimp as a new experience.
We were offered 3 kinds of rice: Paneer, Sabzy and Nan. I don’t really have a personal favourite as they all give a different taste with the mix grill. Each person probably favours one over the other so I guess it boils down to preference. Rice was a bit cold, was hoping it was hotter.
After the heavy meal we settled with minted tea and ice cream with a Persian touch. I noticed the tea and ice cream aren’t available if you order from Naz via 6alabat. So you might want to try them once you’re their.
