Review: Smoke House Southern BBQ
Went all the way to Mahboula the other day to try Smoke House Southern BBQ. They have something I’ve been wanting to try for a long time, the camel burger which they call the Hashi Burger. The place is definitely for the BBQ lovers, most of the dishes are either cooked with BBQ sauce or have it on the side.
The nachos was completely plain and for some reason I loved it. You get the tomato sauce with it but because we ordered fried chicken wings we had 5 difference sauces to dip from, since the chicken wings came with 4 sauces. Will probably ask them next time I’m there where they get their nacho supply from.
These aren’t your typical chicken wings as you can already tell. They come breaded and deep-fried, served with celery, spicy buffalo sauce, honey mustard sauce, BBQ sauce and blue cheese sauce. I don’t go for chicken wings that often but my friend thought they were pretty good. I think you’re safe when you have 4 different sauces to pick from.
Now for the Hashi Burger, which has the meat of a baby camel. You should not try the meat of a grown camel, it’ll be too rough. The meat was kind of chewy and I didn’t think much of it but my friend thought it was good. Believe it or not camel meat helps reduce risks of cardiovascular disease through lower intake of saturated fats.
One of the things I like about Smoke House is the variety of side dishes. Above is the Potato Salad, having it with a burger can easily fill you up. The side dish can be either coleslaw, fries, southern style rice, sweetcorn and butter, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked beans, mac and cheese or potato salad. I recommend trying the potato salad before anything.
Something else that’s new to me was the Smoked Pulled Chicken Plate that comes with BBQ sauce and is served with Texan toast. I actually like the chicken pulled more than a regular chicken burger. If you can’t make up your mind with which burger to get you can get a set of 3 different mini burgers.
