When you hear there’s pizza in Kuwait cooked the way pizza was originally cooked in Italy you can’t help but go have a bite. From what I heard about this place I was expecting my soul to depart my body with joy the moment I had a taste. Well that didn’t happen, the pizza was great but it wasn’t superb. I really admire the Kuwaiti’s who came up with the idea as the staff is currently 100% Kuwaiti.
The pizza remains in the oven for about a minute with a certain fixed temperature. It is then extracted and is ready to be served. The chef has a certificate obtained from Naples for making pizza. This is currently the only place in Kuwait with a seal of authenticity, by the “Vera Pizza Napoletana”. The store currently only opens from 6p.m to 11p.m. We came at around 8p.m before it got crowded.
My friend ordered the traditional Margherita. Though we really wanted to try a pepperoni but they said because it is on demand it will be coming soon. As you can tell this isn’t your normal margherita. This is actually what it is suppose to look like but thanks to Pizza Hut and Dominos we have a different understanding of what a margarita looks like.
I ordered the Special Mushroom pizza which isn’t available on the menu. To my surprise the pizza doesn’t come sliced, you eat it with a knife and fork. I don’t recommend eating the pizza that way as it gets aggravating sometimes. Just ask them to slice it for you. Each pizza costs 3.5KD which I found reasonable. It won’t completely fill your stomach but it’s good enough for a meal.
