The spa was definitely one of the most colourful places I’ve been to in my life. I’ll be going through some interesting experiences I’ve had there, including a salt room with wobbly beds and an ice shower. The spa offers a huge variety of facial and body treatments along with body massages and hydrotherapy.
If you book any massage that’s more than 55 minutes you get free access to their “Spa Experience” which includes a sauna room, pool, salt room and some other facilities. If you just want to go there to use those without a massage you need to pay KD 25 (KD 12 for hotel residents)
There massage rooms are pretty comfortable and the light is so diffused it gives you a relaxation feeling. They even have a jet lag recovery massage that lasts 85 minutes which I found interesting. If you want something relaxing you should go for the popular swedish massage which increases your blood flow.
This is called the salt room, they named it that because the room contains small particles in the air of himalayan salt which strengthen your immune system. The beds are filled up with water so they’re actually comfortable to lay down on for hours. The room isn’t as hot as it looks, temperature was in the middle.
There was a box of ice filled with soft ice cubes which intrigued me. Turns out after a sauna or any experience which causes your body to sweat your skin glands are open and need to be closed so bacteria doesn’t enter.
The fastest way to do that is to wash your body with cold ice, it will shock your body and cause it to immediately shrink all your sweat glands. In the spa woman’s area there’s a snow room instead of ice, if you’re a girl, that you must check out.
For those interested they also have a suite room for couples or friends. It’s not available to public yet but they’re planning to have it available at the end of this year. You get to pick one of two suites, or both because each has different facilities that include a chikuzee, turkish hammam and shower area. From what I understood you get a free message of your choice if you book a suite. However, if you book it as a couple you will only get face facial treatment.
At the very end it’s relaxation time, you get served lemonade, tea, green apples and figs. I’m guessing the dry figs is there because they have great and health and skin benefits. The mens area is so big I got lost a few times so I can’t imagine how large the ladies area is.
Overall I had a very pleasant experience. Their prices aren’t as expensive as one would imagine, a swedish massage for 55 minutes costs KD 29. That also includes free access to all their facilities. The suites however are pretty pricy, they range from KD 400 to KD 450 per hour for couples.
