Wokhay is a new Chinese dinning restaurant that opened up near Green Island (it’s before the entrance). I have to say the food I tried was better than excepted. We ate a big variety but I’ll focus on the food we enjoyed most on this post. Sultan Center card holders have a 30% discount for a limited time, which is a great discount in my opinion.
I have tried the Hot & Sour Soup more times than I can remember but have never liked it until now, this one tasted just right. It’s a popular Asian soup that comes with small chicken pieces, spring onion and crispy wanton strips. To open up your appetite I would recommend ordering this, and it’s not a light soup might I add.
Chicken Lettuce Wrap was also a really good appetizer, it’s kind of obvious you have to pour some chicken on a big lettuce wrap and crunch your way through it. The appetizer doesn’t come with a sauce so if you’re crazy about sauces like I am, I would recommend ordering a dynamite sauce on the side.
Apparently no Chinese restaurant is a Chinese restaurant by Kuwaiti standards if it doesn’t serve Dynamite Shrimp. Their dynamite shrimp tasted similar to the one at PF Changs except you get a bigger portion, I would say you get around an additional 50% of shrimp.
If you’re a beef fan, you have to order the General Tsao’s, I’m more of a chicken guy but really liked this dish. Almost every main course comes with a small salad on the side. The beef came with their signature sauce and orange peel which added a unique taste. The portion is good for one or two people with rice.
This is the Kung Pao Chicken which is the one I would recommend for chicken lovers. The chicken tasted pretty good and was crispy from the outside, this dish works nice with brown rice, or white rice. Just avoid the big black circles, not sure what they are but they are killer spicy.
Then there was the Kung Pao Shrimp, this was actually the 3rd shrimp dish we tried. First one was the Dynamite shrimp, then combo fried rice which was a mix of rice, egg, tilapia and shrimp. This dish works either as a main course, or as a sharing course when everyone has their main course but still wants shrimp.
We were pretty stuffed at this point but were glad to find out they served American desserts so we went with one ice cream brownie pictured above and one ice cream chocolate fondue available on the gallery below. Both tasted good, nothing too special about them but a great finisher.
Overall I had a great time, will definitely be back for more to have some of the dishes I already tried and some new ones as well. The Sultan Center card holder 30% discount is available until 28th February so be sure to pass by before then if you want to take advantage of your membership.
