Two years ago I wrote about BeThink, a Kuwaiti based crowd-funding service and as I had predicted, they closed down because Kuwait is too small to depend on crowd-funding, you need millions to contribute. Kickstarter has over 8 million contributors which is one of the main reasons behind its massive success.
Jarbiha however is looking at the bigger picture, it’s aims to become the Kickstarter service for the Middle East. Although I heard people saying it’s the first in the region, it’s not, Zoomal has been doing it for years. I hope it works out this time around, we have a lot of people with creative ideas but no funding to take the steps of making those ideas businesses.[Website]
