I was invited to take part in a calligraphy workshop Your AOK was hosting and being a fan of calligraphy it turned out to be fun. Your AOK is a network that hosts workshops with lecturers they handpick as well as having a platform where you can upload your work online, something like a local Behance.
The workshop I attended was lectured by the calligraphy artist Nugamshi, which covered the basics of learning proper tools and techniques with a fun session at the end where everyone would practice Nugamshi with a broomstick.
The final step was for everyone to grab their broomstick and walk to the fountain downstairs then start practicing Nugamshi on a big scale. I must admit a group of people all holding broomsticks walking around in the street looked like we were about to go clean a big dirty area.
I am looking forward to more of their workshops, I might join a photography one soon. There workshops range in price from KD 60 up till KD 200 which are reasonable considering I normally see workshops go for KD 300+ in Kuwait. There latest workshops can be found their blog [here].
