I was excited to have convenience stores in gas stations, this should have been done ages ago. Every GCC country I visited has this. I posted back in 2012 when Alpha announced it’s opening convenient stores at gas stations they run. I passed by that same gas station I took a photo of, the store is as is except without the billboard. I think it might be because they couldn’t get a licence.
I noticed Alpha has been pushing to open convenient stores in their gas stations. Oula was supposed to have a burger king and supermarket in their gas stations but that never happened. It’s about time we have a mini-supermarket in stations. I think Kuwait is the only country lacking behind on this. Wonder how long it’ll take before it’s functional.
7-Eleven, world’s largest operator, franchisor and licensor of convenience stores has a copy cat in Kuwait. There logos are pretty similar but there won’t be any lawsuits involved. This did make me wonder why we don’t have a bakala franchise, one that has its bakala’s all over Kuwait. This might be a good plan for someone looking to start a small business.
