I was waiting for Cane’s to open since I prefer chicken over beef so I passed by Cane’s first thing after arriving back to Kuwait. Their prices are pretty low, the chicken strips taste like, well, chicken. There was no flavour or anything special about their strips. I liked their special sauce and it works well with their french fries too. I guess it’s an okay place to go when I can’t think of any other place to go at The Avenues, or if I want to spend no more than 3 KD.
It’s not uncommon in Kuwait for someone with a new purchased car to celebrate by butchering a sheep (chicken if you’re on a low budget) to celebrate the occasion and at the same time reflect the evil eye (عين الحسود). The blood of the sheep is stained on the car. It is however, uncommon to have the blood not washed off and drive in public with blood all over your car.
This is was the case with the car above that was spotted in Jahra area. It was purchased by a guy the previous day and when questioned by police he insisted it was sheep’s blood on his car. The car was impounded. I thought it was commonsense to not drive a car in public that was dripping blood on the outside.[Source]
I passed by Babak at the Avenues to review the restaurant as well as see how good the Sigma 18 -35 mm lens handles food photography. The results were impressive, the lens and the food were great. Some of the photos were too focused but that wasn’t a big deal.
The difference between Villa Babak and Babak is the menu, this one has more items and in my opinion it’s like the prestige version of Babak. At first I thought they were Iranian, but then I saw hummus on their menu, to top it off they even had Caesar Salad as you can see above.
They have this signature Badenjan salad which I recommend trying, it’s pretty heavy but worth it if you like eggplant. It comes with labna and other spices, I had it with a loaf of bread and it was a good combination.
Passed by Hamra Mall yesterday and noticed Wok N go opened up, it was there first day. This is the first time I try them and the food was pretty good. I ordered chicken with rice and vegetables, there was little chicken but that was fine. They will be starting delivery by next week. Waiting for more places to open at Hamra.
I passed by Buffalo yesterday at Salmiya to check out the contest. There was 7 participants munching furiously on spicy chicken wings when I came in late. The contest had already started, the guy that ate the most chicken wings in 10 minutes won the contest.
Size did matter as the biggest guy won at the end. First place ate 23 chicken wings, 2nd place 22 chicken wings and 3rd place 21 chicken wings. The prize was one month of free chicken wings, not my kind of prize but a dream to some nonetheless. There are no photos with those IDs or post 13724 does not have any attached images!
We passed by Aubergine last Thursday after receiving an invitation for food testing. The place is cosy and moderate in size. Their food was one of the best Lebanese places I have tried in Kuwait. Most of what I liked was exclusive dishes they made up themselves. To my knowledge Aubergine is the dark purple colour of an Eggplant. continue reading»
I can understand copying a fast food chain because it’s famous and successful but I can’t understand why would someone want to have Adolf Hitler on it. I wish this photo was taken when the store was open, wanted to see what they serve. I’m guessing a “Shmuk Burger” is somewhere on the menu. Calling it H-ler isn’t going to help sell the food either.
A chicken that actually killed a human being, unintentionally I assume. Jose Luis Ochoa was trying to stop a cockfight when he got stabbed in his leg by a chicken that had a knife attached to its limb. He was declared dead 2 hours later in hospital. Cockfighting is an illegal sport in most countries, it is a fight between two roasters inside a ring till one does. Who would have thought a chicken could kill its owner.[Source]
