Samsung are facing a new issue with their device, a manufacturer in China (presumably) is making fake Galaxy S6 clones that look almost exactly like the real one and people are getting ripped off. This is why you should be very careful when buying one online. This video explains the differences and what to look out for.
Wokhay is a new Chinese dinning restaurant that opened up near Green Island (it’s before the entrance). I have to say the food I tried was better than excepted. We ate a big variety but I’ll focus on the food we enjoyed most on this post. Sultan Center card holders have a 30% discount for a limited time, which is a great discount in my opinion.
I have tried the Hot & Sour Soup more times than I can remember but have never liked it until now, this one tasted just right. It’s a popular Asian soup that comes with small chicken pieces, spring onion and crispy wanton strips. To open up your appetite I would recommend ordering this, and it’s not a light soup might I add.
Chicken Lettuce Wrap was also a really good appetizer, it’s kind of obvious you have to pour some chicken on a big lettuce wrap and crunch your way through it. The appetizer doesn’t come with a sauce so if you’re crazy about sauces like I am, I would recommend ordering a dynamite sauce on the side.
Apparently no Chinese restaurant is a Chinese restaurant by Kuwaiti standards if it doesn’t serve Dynamite Shrimp. Their dynamite shrimp tasted similar to the one at PF Changs except you get a bigger portion, I would say you get around an additional 50% of shrimp.
I’m starting to get fed up of how so many things are over-priced, some things cost triple or quadruple the cost in comparison to the price it’s sold at in other countries. What’s worse is even some delivery services charge you in a manner that makes no sense at all.
I ordered 2 Egg Masters which cost KD 8 each. Once they arrived I researched their manufacturing cost (the ones I got turned out to be a Chinese knockoff from the original Rollie product) but the manufacturer never got back to me. Nevertheless, a quick search will tell you the average cost to manufacture one ranges from $6-$8.
So it costs around KD 2 to sell an Egg Master, while I paid 4 times that amount, a bit overpriced maybe? Next up was the delivery service, Delivery Express. The two Egg Masters arrived and the driver charged KD 20 which didn’t make sense to me since they told me delivery cost was KD 2.
2 Egg Masters = KD 16 + KD 2 = KD 18. After I managed to reach someone in charge he told me their system adds a delivery cost for every item. So even though the 2 Egg Masters arrived together in 1 delivery I paid for them as if they were delivered separately.
What they’re basically telling me is, their system is so terrible that I have to pay double the delivery charge, which is absurd; how is their system my problem? This also means if I order 9 Egg Masters I have to pay KD 18 for 1 delivery. It might cost me less in delivery cost if I shipped 9 Egg Masters from the U.S.
Update: The owner of Delivery Express got in touch to better explain the situation that happened. The guy I initially talked to misinformed me on how the system worked for that specific order. In some cases they make a fixed profit from every delivery (in this case it was KD 2). They had a deal with the store selling Egg Masters to get KD 2 of the total price for every item, so it should have been sold at KD 10 each and the guy who I talked to at the time should have avoided diving into details to avoid confusion.
That’s not a Cayenne up there, it’s a Hawtai. China being the masters of cloning have released an almost copy/paste version of the Porsche Cayenne and for less than 1/4 of the Cayenne’s price. According to autoevolution its starting price is at $20,000 (~KD 5,700). Someone should get the franchise for the fun of it.
Passed by Hamra Mall yesterday and noticed Wok N go opened up, it was there first day. This is the first time I try them and the food was pretty good. I ordered chicken with rice and vegetables, there was little chicken but that was fine. They will be starting delivery by next week. Waiting for more places to open at Hamra.
This story made it to headlines after the man won $120,000 in the lawsuit, presumably for damages. I was joking discussing with a friend the other day that the next generation of kids will be a lot uglier than the previous one because a lot of woman who many might see as ugly are having plastic surgery.
So they end up becoming much prettier, getting married and bearing kids passing on their genes. My conversation was exactly what happened in this case. The wife never told her husband about cosmetic surgery so the husband was so shocked by how ugly their kid looked he thought she was cheating on him.
After she confessed she had plastic surgery worth of $100,000 before meeting him, he both divorced and sued her. He then won the lawsuit, even though I think a lot of ugly-looking kids grow to be pretty/handsome adults and vice versa. If I feel sorry for anyone, it’s for lost child. “I married my wife out of love, but as soon as we had our first daughter, we began having marital issues. Our daughter was incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified me,”
A Chinese company made an Android device using the design of the leaked iPhone 5. What’s worse is they have actually patented the design of the device in China and are threatening to sue Apple if the iPhone 5 looks anything like their knock-off version. I always thought the patent system was unjust, this just further proves my point.
The Goophone (what they named it) has some surprisingly good specs and can rival the current Android flagships like the HTC One X and Samsung SIII. The device comes with a 1.4Ghz quad-core processor, 1 GB RAM and 8-megapixel camera. On top of that it runs on Android 4.0 ICS but with an iOS 6 theme, kinda ironic. Asking price? ~KD 85 ($299).[Source]
Most of us can’t afford a Lamborghini Reventon, but most of us wouldn’t build one either. There are only 21 of these rides in the world and Wang Jian just made the homemade 22nd Reventon. He got the engine from a used Nissan van and the chassis from a Volkswagon. The nationalpost calls it the “Wang-borghini”, it cost him around $9,500 total to build.
Although the car is missing headlights and the windshield it doesn’t look that bad actually. I bet you get the best feeling when you build your own car from scratch, then drive it every day. It’s no surprise the guy is Chinese, I’m not sure if there’s anything left that they haven’t made a copy of. His new ride goes upto 160 MPH which is more than I expected.
