After it mysteriously disappeared from supermarkets for years one of my favourite snacks is back in the market. Spotted this at Qurtoba Co-op, I bought a full box in case they ran out quickly. I prefer this Twix much more than the original ones. I just hope it’s not a one time promotion and disappears again.
I’m pretty disappointed, when I heard about this I thought there was a booth set where you tell them what name you want and they will sell you a Nutella jar with whatever name you want. I wanted to have one with Kuwaitiful on it as a souvenir. So I went to Mishref Co-Op where they were doing this promotion.
There was no booth, just your regular Nutella jars with stickers you put on them. My name, which is a very popular name in Kuwait (AbdulAziz) wasn’t part of the name list they had, nor was any name that started with ‘Abdul’. The name selection was so small many of my friends names weren’t on the name list either.
For those interested in ‘Nutella My Name’ and are hoping to find their name the promotion will be available at Ministry of Defense Co-op & Carrefour The Avenues from 22nd to 24th January.
I received a box of chocolate goodness from Nutella. They’re quite possibly the only brand in Kuwait that doesn’t need marketing because half of Kuwait are advocates while the other half like Nutella anyway. I had no idea they were around for 50 years already. More on their history [here].
To celebrate their anniversary they’re sharing everyone’s [Nutella Story] and you can take part by adding your own story with Nutella. Starting from tomorrow Nutella will be having a stand in 360 Mall for 2 days in front of Geant serving a variety of Nutella foods, something I look forward to except I don’t go to malls that often.
Not that Jarbiya needed even more restaurant to begin with, it’s already showered with restaurants on every corner you look. A new mini-mall is being built next to Champion that will house Johnny Rockets, Nino, Chocolate Cafe and Caribou. I’m pretty sure there’s going to be more by the time the mini-mall is complete.
It’s bad enough there might not be a Nutella day, what’s worse is I just found out a day dedicated to Nutella existed. Ferrero’s lawyers (Ferrero owns Nutella) don’t seem too happy about the fan-made Feb 5th Nutella day. There are negotiations right now with Ferrero to keep that day but there’s no knowing if it will go through.
A while back I received a thoughtful gift from 965flowers, it’s a website like Talabt except instead of food there are flowers. You pick the flower you want to order and the website will automatically inform the shop of your order with when you want the flowers to be delivered and where you want them delivered. You can even add a card with a paragraph of your liking if you want.
I ordered some flowers and the process was seamless and smooth, I didn’t have to login to my email to confirm my account. Didn’t know flowers are this expensive, I should open my own flower shop. They also recently launched directories for bakery and chocolate. Kudos goes to Local Flavor for coming up with this gift.[Website]
I passed by Marble Slab’s new location in Jabriya and I’m glad an ice cream store opened there having seen at least four frozen yoghurt stores open in Jabriya close to each other. My favorite part about Marble Slab is the mixing, you don’t just pick what ice cream you like, grab a few scoops, add some chocolate sauce and leave. They blend everything together and there’s a lot to pick from.
I chose some vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate ice cream, some kinder bueno pieces, ferrero riacho pieces and digestive biscuits. They all get put together then with the metal equipment they squashed everything together. I went all-out chocolate but they also have healthy stuff like fruits to pick from. Usually I add cookies but I think there’s enough chocolate and biscuit already.
The manager gave me a tour around the place and to my surprise they have pizza ice cream. I think this one was the red velvet pizza, after you pick your pizza you add whatever you want on top of it. So in this case the red velvet is like the tomato of a pizza. These are great for big gatherings or birthdays. They also had ice cream cupcakes available in the gallery below.
Two years ago I posted about Co-Ops in Kuwait stopping Kinder Surprise and switching to Kinder Joy. The reasons weren’t clear but Kinder Surprise does pose public healthy risks since a kid may unknowingly choke on the object. I was surprised to find it in Qurtoba C0-Op for a hefty 295 fils. The stock they’re bringing is from Belgium, so it won’t be lasting long.
