The luxurious hotel which I’ve reviewed both their restaurants [here] and [here] is getting renamed to Symphony Style Hotel after Missoni Fashion House’s halted their hospitality sector globally. The name change comes with an upgrade in facilities including a new lobby, lounges, meeting facilities and restaurants. The hotel is very vibrant, can’t wait to see what changes they have in mind.
Cucina, the Italian restaurant at Hotel Missoni invited me over to try their new pizza menu. They just finished installing their new old school oven and I was pretty excited to have another decent place that serves pizza in Kuwait. The place I currently go to for good pizza is Solo Napulitana, and now this.
Although I was there for the pizza I couldn’t stand not ordering their shrimp salad (Gamberoni alla Piastra), it’s one of my favourites. It’s a light appetizer to start with before the main course that can be shared, I mainly like the marination used on the shrimp.
I undoubtedly went for the pepperoni pizza, except I would order it without olives on my next visit. The dough used is close to the one in Sicily, so it’s a bit thick, not the super thin type some people would expect. The dough itself is imported from Italy as well as many of the ingredients used.
They have 12 different pizzas on their menu which was great because normally on launch a restaurant would only have 2-4 pizzas. My friend went for a more veggie-full pizza which he said was good. The pizzas come in a bit bigger than medium size. There’s also a kids meal pizza, something to have if you want a small pizza.
We had to go for an explosion dessert at the end, Dolce Pizza comes with their special chocolate sauce (which tasted a lot like Nutella), crushed hazelnuts and sugar powder. This dessert is definitely for sharing, unless you want an extra few kilos for yourself. I know I’m going overdose but a vanilla ice cream scope on the side would top it off pretty well.
Before I go on to talk about their new menu I want to first talk about how beautiful the place has become. They’ve revamped the whole restaurant and it looks completely different. It simply feels fresher, as you finally get to a view of the sea which was closed previously. There’s all types of colorful furniture and chandeliers.
To not fill up after one main course I asked them to serve me smaller portions of everything so I could try more. This is their burrata cheese made from mozzarella and cream, only served once a week and it’s not on their menu. I know some that are in complete love with burrata. The creamy part is inside the burrata.
