An Italian friend finally opened his restaurant, remember those super delicious authentic cannolis made in Quot Market? It was done by him and his wife and now they’ve opened up their dessert shop with plans to launch a set menu of Italian cuisine. I highly recommend you try their cannolis if you haven’t already, I will post a full review soon.
We have Talabat to order food from, Bilbayt for ordering catering service and now [Q8Desserts] for ordering desserts. They have brands like chocolateness, Cold Stone, DeBrand & Scoop a Cone[Full List]. To make it easier to pick from, you can see what desserts fit best by [occasion].
This site comes in handy for when you’d like to order dessert for a gathering or event ahead of time by a week or so. They also give you the option to customize and make your own chocolate box, currently working on launching an app soon. I’m eager to see what will be the next delivery service, I can’t think of any food that’s not available for delivery nowadays.
I like the name of the businesses, Akil Baity serves as a store for homemade desserts. I wrote about Bait Bite and was excited about the concept but I think they shut down or something, the stores they serve from have dropped drastically. Akil Baity is similar but it focuses on high quality homemade-based businesses.
Right now they deliver cakes, minis, assorted sweets, entrees & pastries and are planning to expand. The process is simple, after ordering the kitchen gets an email of your order. They then confirm and start working on it. Make sure you check how long an order takes, some of them span up to 4+ hours.[Website]

If you remember 2 years ago I posted about a UAE Sheikh that engraved his name on the planet. A few days ago I remembered his story and decided to research his name on Google Maps to see if it was complete but found out it completely disappeared. I guess he was he was cutting down on costs by a few million.
I received an attractively wrapped box from a popular sweets place on instagram called istanbuliyah. According to their bio they specialize in pistachio cakes but what I got was a sugar dose of delicious red velvet. I instantly like a brand when they have good branding, we all do but not all of us realize it. They did a great job with the packaging.
The red velvet cupcakes looked so good I didn’t want to eat them. They come with white cream that’s sugar-coated. Although I’m not a big cupcake fan I really like those, great with a cup of coffee or tea. I think they only come in dozens (boxes of 12 pieces each). Istanbuliyah also has a variety of Arabian sweets.
Passed by a new café located in Burj Jassem with a new concept. Instead of being just another cupcake store this place specializes in gelato ice cream. For those wondering gelato is similar to ice cream except with less fat and less air whipped into the mixture. This place is totally cosy and best of all smoke-free, will be added to the cosy-list.
They have different cakes and sweets that are served with gelato. Everything they do is made fresh every morning which includes their gelato and is not imported. They also serve frozen yoghurt which I tried and liked. If you’re just looking for a clam place to have coffee and read a book for example this is a good place.
Of course one of my favorites is gelato cookies. They taste very different in comparison to standard cookies since they’re stuffed with ice cream. They’re kind of small so I recommend having a cookie all in one go to avoid making a mess.
Angelato specialize in macaroons. They had a lot of different macaroons when I was there and the manager told me if there is a specific color a customer is looking for they will custom make macaroons for them with that color. These are nice when ordered for wedding or ceremonies.
The place also offers delivery, since most of what they serve melts when not being refrigerated for a long time they are packed in boxes with crushed ice. The packaging leaves the items fresh for upto 4 hours. They are planning on having dry ice which can last longer. I think for big deliveries you have to contact them hours ahead.
This photo from National Geographic is nothing short of extraordinary. At first sight you see a bunch of camels walking through the dessert. Those are actually the shadows of the camels, the camels are the thin lines below the shadows. The shot was taken at the right angle when the sun was at the right corner to give this effect.[Source]
I think this is a smart move by Zero Degrees to open next to Slider Station, Cocoa Room, Pizzetta, Burger Hub and all the other restaruants so that people would go for a froyo dessert after a heavy meal. When they open up I’ll probably have a few mini burgers from Slider Station and a mango flavoured frozen yoghurt from Zero Degrees.
