We finally have something I like in Qurtoba Co-op, before that we only had Burger King, a fatayer place, a shawerma place, Caribou (which use to be my only go to place) and Quiznoss (which I kind of like). It looks really nice from the inside but it’s so packed, didn’t bother waiting in line. I’m really hoping after Ramadan traffic will reduce significantly.
I have bad news and good news for Qurtoba. The good news being Elevation opening soon obviously, located right next to Burger King. The bad news is a source told me Pick Yo won’t be opening up and instead have decided to close their branch which is disappointing, I was planning to frequent that place like crazy being so close to home. The Pick Yo news isn’t 100% accurate but I guess I’ll have to settle with burgers instead of frozen yoghurt for the time being.
I’ve been a fan of Pick Yo well before it started trending, and what I don’t like about it trending is I can no longer schedule meetings there anymore, because it’s too packed and too hot. Qurtoba residents are going to love having it though, there’s barely anything in the co-op area apart from Burger King, Caribou and a shawerma place.
Passed by a new café located in Burj Jassem with a new concept. Instead of being just another cupcake store this place specializes in gelato ice cream. For those wondering gelato is similar to ice cream except with less fat and less air whipped into the mixture. This place is totally cosy and best of all smoke-free, will be added to the cosy-list.
They have different cakes and sweets that are served with gelato. Everything they do is made fresh every morning which includes their gelato and is not imported. They also serve frozen yoghurt which I tried and liked. If you’re just looking for a clam place to have coffee and read a book for example this is a good place.
Of course one of my favorites is gelato cookies. They taste very different in comparison to standard cookies since they’re stuffed with ice cream. They’re kind of small so I recommend having a cookie all in one go to avoid making a mess.
Angelato specialize in macaroons. They had a lot of different macaroons when I was there and the manager told me if there is a specific color a customer is looking for they will custom make macaroons for them with that color. These are nice when ordered for wedding or ceremonies.
The place also offers delivery, since most of what they serve melts when not being refrigerated for a long time they are packed in boxes with crushed ice. The packaging leaves the items fresh for upto 4 hours. They are planning on having dry ice which can last longer. I think for big deliveries you have to contact them hours ahead.

Managed to pass by MILK yesterday for a review and it was well worth it. I would recommend going for breakfast because they’re mostly a breakfast place. The food they offer for lunch is good but there’s little to pick from. The place looks unique, like nothing I’ve seen before. The atmosphere is cheerful and the staff are always smiling. continue reading»
I’ve been considering getting a frozen yoghurt/ice cream maker, has anyone tried it before? My only concern is thinking it will be nowhere near what we get from frozen Yoghurt stores. The good ones are pretty heavy, the one above is 13 pounds shipping weight. So finding a store that sells them locally would be cheaper. You can see samples posted by users here.
I managed to pass by and try this place yesterday. I was impressed by how they make the froyo, unlike other frozen yoghurt stores they blend your fruits with your froyo. I picked mango and strawberry shown on the top right, they put them in a machine and mixed them with my froyo giving what you see above. To top it off, I added some pomegranate.
Though I like the concept of blending fruits with froyo, I do not recommend what I ordered. I think I made a pretty bad combination. Their store is located behind Zero Degrees.
I passed by this place randomly the other day only to find out it is yet another frozen yoghurt store. Yoghurt is taking over the country and nothing can stop it. I noticed each yoghurt store has something unqiue that sort of separates it from other stores, in this case it was the cereal. They had a huge variety of cereals to pick from.
They also had Maltesers and M&M’s but no kinder bueno here either. The surprising part was finding they had gummy bears. I’m not sure who would want to put jelly on their frozen yoghurt but I guess it’s there for kids mostly.
Finally found a place that offers chocolate chip cookies but they didn’t taste all that good, not sure if it was the cookies or the combination of cookies with froyo. The kitkat also tasted pretty bad, I think it was a fake kitkat. But the froyo flavor I picked tasted just like chocolate ice cream and was delicious, it was called Birthday Cake.
