A friend told me about this new business yesterday that’s great for getting aerial shots without having to rent an actual helicopter and camera team. What they do is attach an HD camera to a small remote-controlled helicopter that flies to the designated location and snaps photos or records video. Picture above is from GUST. Someone has finally come up with an idea all university students have been waiting for. An online store where you can sell or exchange the books you bought for courses you took. I have a huge load of university books lying around, I should probably start selling them. You can pick which university/college you’re from. The service is free, there’s no fee.[Website]

Apart from the exceeding amount of cupcake and soft drinks stores the carnival was pretty good. I’d say so far they’ve managed to make it the best carnival. Gulf Run was there with some impressive cars, as always. Jonny Rockets, Burger Co and other food stores were in the food court. I also tried Popcornopolis for the first time, they are one of the best right now.

Viva pulled off a hilarious performance by Ibrahim Khayralla, Fadi and Fahad al Butairi. The show made fun of Kuwaiti stereotypes which was a lot more entertaining than talking about general jokes. I was going to upload a video but I read people weren’t allowed to record videos. The next event will be in a few months, will definitely try to make it.

Hoping this carnival won’t be like the rest they’ve had. They use to be mostly booths selling overpriced home made cupcakes or redbull mixes. That’s what I’ve noticed studying there for years. This carnival however looks promosing, it’s about showing your talent in photography, painting, drawing, crafting, designing or knitting. So hoping to see actual talent.

I had to pass by the university I graduated from today in the nosiest day of the year, election day. The video I’ve taken shows basically a group taunting the other group. The other group being Al Mustakillah, who have won in previous years. I personally hate this day and have never voted but once as a favour. For most, this day is as exciting as it gets. 

I was impressed by this years showreel. It was better organized, was short and to the point. I liked this years video’s more than last year because somehow I sense more effort was put in the making. I guess they learned this time around to include only the best videos on the showreel instead of every single video produced. I’m looking forward for Showreel 2012. 

I passed by the festival today after class. I couldn’t believe we had yet another carnival, it seems we now officially have one every other day. Like most GUST carnivals, it was pretty much the same routine. Most stores sold snacks, accessories or clothing. There were some interesting new concepts and famous brands this time around.

Make up artist Abdulaziz Al-Juraib was there. I liked the contact lenses he decided to use, if you look closely you’ll find tiny holes similar to a bugs eye. I think he was there to advertise the huanted house, tickets were for 2.500KD. I haven’t been inside, but it looked like it was worth a try for those interested.
