A reader sent me this hilarous photo taken at Grand Cinema. For those who don’t know Arabic, hmara means donkey. They meant to write Grand Hamra but wrote Grand Hmara by mistake. What’s worse is it’s been there for over a week unnoticed by staff. There tag line works great with this, ‘always entertaining’.
The first thing you should know about Bice is it’s pronounced Be-che, you can hear a sound wave of the name [here]. Bloggers were invited to try the food and there was a special menu for that day. I can’t help but compliment the cocktail juice, it has a unique flavor, the lower layer is all sugar.
One of the main courses was Salmone in Padella, which wasn’t from the special menu so the dish is available. It had braised fennel with green horseradish sauce. The salmon itself tasted good but the green sauce had a strong taste so if you want to focus on the salmon you can have it without the sauce.
I ordered the chicken boneless Romana that came with bell pepper and tomato sauce. I like the portion size, not too big nor not too small. It tasted like a traditional dish we have actually but I can’t remember which. Had a side order of potatoes with garlic oil and parsley (available in gallery).
Passed by Hamra Mall yesterday and noticed Wok N go opened up, it was there first day. This is the first time I try them and the food was pretty good. I ordered chicken with rice and vegetables, there was little chicken but that was fine. They will be starting delivery by next week. Waiting for more places to open at Hamra.
If you remember a while ago I tried the Vibram 5 Finger shoes and wasn’t a fan, they were uncomfortable. A friend recently bought a pair of Adipure which are a similar concept so I went to try them out. They’re currently only sold in Adidas Al Hamra Mall and cost around KD 34. Luckily they were the right fit and I liked how they looked.
The one I bought had air ventilation which is great if you’re going for a jog or if you’re going to sweat. I wouldn’t recommend it for martial arts because it has a pretty good grip, meaning you will have a hard time swinging the feet that’s on the floor when you kick. Make sure you order one bigger than your size a bit so that your pinky finger has enough space.
Puma has opened in Hamra with style. This time around, they did let me take photos inside. Puma invited bloggers to check out their new store and try the Puma Creative Factory. What separates this Puma store from other stores that sell Puma is the collection they have, they sell casual shoes and clothing too including Puma jeans designed by Hussein Chalayan
I found out these new Puma jackets that have a built in in-ear headphones. These really come in handy for those that like jogging or taking a long walk having an iPod. My only concern was with the dry-cleaning but there was a sticker that mentioned this jacket is washable. Not sure how many different jackets have the built-in headphones.
Puma’s Creative Factory is basically a place where you get to fully customize any type of shoe you want. You can change the colours and materials of any shoe, but you can’t add your own artwork like a logo or such. I finally customized a shoe I’ve been trying to find for years. The purple/white Puma trainers. I will post about it once I receive the pair, it costs KD 55 and will take around a month to deliver.
Of course an event isn’t complete unless you’re being served chocolate all the time. Chocolate Bar served chocolate dips and mini-milkshakes which I thought were pretty cool, they came in flavours of oreo, strawberry and cheesecake. You can check out more stuff on the gallery below.
The first official puma store which I posted about earlier has finally opened yesterday. Of course the first question I’m going to be asked is do they sell H-Street sneakers? Yes, they do. I even bought one to see what the fuss is all about, my first impression is they’re super light. Almost as if you don’t have any sneakers on. Too bad I couldn’t take photos inside the store, wasn’t allowed.
The store has a new technology currently one of its kind in Kuwait. They have a table you sit on which has a few iPads hanging from it. You go there to fully customize a shoe you want and they will make it for you, this includes customizing H-Street sneakers. The shoe will take approximately 2 months to complete. They’re selling the latest collection so they’re worth passing by.
I passed by Hamra Mall this week to grab lunch in the recently opened Elevation Burger. While going around the mall to see what’s new I spotted the Puma store. I hope they bring exclusive sportswear that isn’t offered in Athlete’s Foot or Foot Locker. Not sure when’s the opening date. For those wondering, both Puma and Adidas are German.
