Based on a cousins recommendation we passed by the Urban Creamery at Sharq where they have a bunch of unique ice cream flavours. The flavours were but not limited to: corn flakes, tea/milk, coffee/orea and salted caramel. You could also make a cookie sandwich with the ice cream, but that can get a bit messy. You can browse their instagram [here].
You can hardly tell it’s a KDD brand, my friend had to point that out to me. It’s their supposedly luxury ice cream brand using real milk to make ice cream (as opposed to powdered milk). I don’t like the branding all that much, doesn’t signify luxury but I am looking forward to trying some. They only had large sizes at Geant so I didn’t buy one.
What does Dolce Vita even mean? Well according to Google Translate it’s Sweet Life in Italian.
I passed by Marble Slab’s new location in Jabriya and I’m glad an ice cream store opened there having seen at least four frozen yoghurt stores open in Jabriya close to each other. My favorite part about Marble Slab is the mixing, you don’t just pick what ice cream you like, grab a few scoops, add some chocolate sauce and leave. They blend everything together and there’s a lot to pick from.
I chose some vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate ice cream, some kinder bueno pieces, ferrero riacho pieces and digestive biscuits. They all get put together then with the metal equipment they squashed everything together. I went all-out chocolate but they also have healthy stuff like fruits to pick from. Usually I add cookies but I think there’s enough chocolate and biscuit already.
The manager gave me a tour around the place and to my surprise they have pizza ice cream. I think this one was the red velvet pizza, after you pick your pizza you add whatever you want on top of it. So in this case the red velvet is like the tomato of a pizza. These are great for big gatherings or birthdays. They also had ice cream cupcakes available in the gallery below.
Passed by a new café located in Burj Jassem with a new concept. Instead of being just another cupcake store this place specializes in gelato ice cream. For those wondering gelato is similar to ice cream except with less fat and less air whipped into the mixture. This place is totally cosy and best of all smoke-free, will be added to the cosy-list.
They have different cakes and sweets that are served with gelato. Everything they do is made fresh every morning which includes their gelato and is not imported. They also serve frozen yoghurt which I tried and liked. If you’re just looking for a clam place to have coffee and read a book for example this is a good place.
Of course one of my favorites is gelato cookies. They taste very different in comparison to standard cookies since they’re stuffed with ice cream. They’re kind of small so I recommend having a cookie all in one go to avoid making a mess.
Angelato specialize in macaroons. They had a lot of different macaroons when I was there and the manager told me if there is a specific color a customer is looking for they will custom make macaroons for them with that color. These are nice when ordered for wedding or ceremonies.
The place also offers delivery, since most of what they serve melts when not being refrigerated for a long time they are packed in boxes with crushed ice. The packaging leaves the items fresh for upto 4 hours. They are planning on having dry ice which can last longer. I think for big deliveries you have to contact them hours ahead.

I’ve been considering getting a frozen yoghurt/ice cream maker, has anyone tried it before? My only concern is thinking it will be nowhere near what we get from frozen Yoghurt stores. The good ones are pretty heavy, the one above is 13 pounds shipping weight. So finding a store that sells them locally would be cheaper. You can see samples posted by users here.
A restaurant in London now offers breast milk ice cream scopes for dessert. As freaky as that may sound, the price tag is just as bizarre. Their selling for 6KD(£14) a scope, which is where husbands start encouraging their wives to sell their breast milk. The idea came from the donor Mrs Hiley. She envisioned more woman would be encouraged to breast feed their children after tasting how good breast milk is.
Fifteen woman have offered donating their breast milk. They would get £15 for every 10 ounces(0.28kg), which isn’t bad at all. I am hoping this won’t trend, as I wouldn’t want to see the day where I compliment Ben & Jerry’s ice cream only to find out I was eating a breast milked flavour.[Source]
Update: Breast milk ice cream is no longer served. It has been confiscated for safety reasons.[Source]
