What a beautiful incentive to encourage kids (ages 8 -12) to improve their Arabic language skills bought by the Ministry of Education. Starting from 1/1/2013, one million stories will be given out to schools all over Kuwait to encourage kids to read Arabic. These stories teach kids value, honesty, ambition, sacrifice and more.

Kids in private schools have the hardest time dealing with Arabic once they get grow up and get a job since most of them are weak. Not because they didn’t study, but because private schools only have 2-5 Arabic classes a week, everything else is taught in English apart from Islam class and sometimes one or two other classes.

Being good in the Arabic language when young will make it so much easier for when they grow up. Kuwaitna, the organizers behind this campaign will be having an event at the Avenues today where you can pass by to know more.

I’m a fan behind the idea McDonald’s is trying to push. On the 28th of September McDonald’s wants more family time and less online time. Meaning they will encourage everyone to shut off their device and have fun with their family. More importantly parents should engage with activities with their kids rather than look from distance and smile.

During the meet-up we were given mobile vaults to keep our phones in. Ironically the touch screen of my device still worked while inside. These vaults will be handed out to customers on the 28th of September. I decided I too was going to take part on September 28th and completely go offline. Wanted to do that for a while and now is a good time. This means no blog post, tweets, facebook or instagram on the 28th of September.

I got to meet a childhood friend, Ronald McDonald. I asked him about Ronald himself, what he does and why he does it. It’s not about the burgers and all about the kids. Found out on Wikipedia Roland even hung out with Enrique Iglesias.

Here are some tips by McDonald’s on what to do on the 28th of September. Some I really liked and some I’m okay with.

1. Reflect on it: take some time to reflect on everything you have accomplished at the end of the work day, and put things into perspective before you head home to spend time with your family.
2. Live to laugh: learn to seek out the humour in small frustrations you may be facing at work. You’ll find yourself less anxious at the end of the day and will be better prepared to enjoy time with the family.
3. Pack up: why not plan a special family outing to a place without any connection to the workplace? You’ll find yourself far removed from all the little reminders that nag away at you while you’re trying to enjoy time with your loved ones.
4. Take a chance: don’t judge until you’ve tried. What’s the worst that could happen by switching your off your device for one day? You may find you don’t miss it that much after all.
5. Switch it up: try replacing one of the element your daily routine with an activity devoted purely to family time – you’ll enjoy the change of pace and be happy you caught up with your loved ones.
6. Reward yourself: don’t let any achievement go unnoticed, no matter how small; recognise your daily successes at work and treat yourself for a job well done by spending time with your family.
7. Plan for it: make family time a necessity instead of a reward. Plan weekly family nights with your loved ones just the way you schedule for important business meetings.
8. Mellow out: find a calm moment in each day to sit down, switch off, and talk to your loved ones.
9. Smooth out the wrinkles: take care of that one, small problem that’s been weighing you down at work; you’ll feel better prepared to switch off and unwind with your family at the end of the day.
10. Keep your balance: take the good with the bad; if you sense something negative sneaking in on your day, balance it out by focusing on something good – like your family.

It’s nice to see every once in a while people all over the world do something that is life changing for a person that was wronged. Karen Klein is a bus monitor that got verbally harassed by the 12 – 15 year old boys she was supervising. After the video went viral on YouTube a fundraiser was issued by her name and so far has raised $447,027 with 29 days to go! The initial fundraiser goal was just $5,000. She can now retire with her lifetime covered.

Update: Donations have hit $600,00. With 28 days to go a million doesn’t sound far fetched!

Now that I finally know the answer to this childhood question I wish parents do too so that they’d yell at their kids less. People thought cracking your knuckles caused arthritis, which stiffens your joints. That does not happen. If you crack your knuckles in a chronic manner you will face a decrease in grip strength. What happens, bubbles burst in the synovial fluid surrounding the joint. I guess I won’t feel bad next time I crack a knuckle.[More Info]

There has been a lot of speculation whether this video is fake or not. I must admit it is one of the hardest videos I have gone through spotting faults. Some say there was a whole the kid slipped into, but you can still see his legs right before the crash. This does look like it has been rehearsed excessively.

The first fault I noticed was with the table, if you notice after the kid pulls the cloth some of the cloth touches the cups but they don’t move. The other fault was more visible, the pen located at the button right of the screen moves slightly right after the 9th second. Proving this video has been edited, very well done nonetheless.

Some brands are terrible when it comes to reaching targeted audience. Kids dressed like this might look cool in America, but I would beg to differ in Kuwait. Many would find this objectionable. They seriously look like a couple of guys from the movie Grease, except 20 years younger. Topless kids is not the way to go here. Spotted in 360 Mall.

Today I’ll be discussing a rather sensitive issue. Hypodermic needles, mostly used to pump a body within a month to look like you’ve been hitting the gym with hulk hogan for the past decade. Is it normal to take a 5 minute walk from a gym and find all these needles laying around? I couldn’t get pictures of the needles inside gym toilets, but they are at least double the amount.

People keep wondering why the divorce rate is increasing in Kuwait. Well, this has a major contribution to statistics. Some families today actually ask for a medical report of the man that is proposing to marry their daughter to check if he was on steroids before. That is because many, if not most men that have taken steroids cannot breed due to low sperm count.

There are many side effects to a child if the father decided to have one like abnormalities and disabilities. As for the person taking the steroids, they can cause severe, long lasting, and often irreversible negative health. Some of which are liver damage, blood lipid profile, kidney problems, changes in the immune system, sterility and gynocomastia.

My best advice to those who just joined the gym and are wow’d by the hulks inside is to be patient, don’t worry or care about what others. It’s not worth damaging yourself and future to be regretting what you have injected 30 years later in severe pain everyday.

I firmly believe these twin boys were having a heated conversation about something. I would love to show them that same video 15 years from  now and force them to translate word for word. Even as adults we never get this enthusiastic when in a conversation. Now I wonder how an entire language was built based on two letters, ‘D’ and ‘A’.
