If you remember 2 years ago I posted about a UAE Sheikh that engraved his name on the planet. A few days ago I remembered his story and decided to research his name on Google Maps to see if it was complete but found out it completely disappeared. I guess he was he was cutting down on costs by a few million.
Update: If you’re looking for a list of Pet Shops in Kuwait I recently wrote a blog post about it [here].
I passed by this place yesterday and I must say this place is better than the Friday Market place by a clear mile. At least here pets are treated like pets, dogs and cats leave the cage every morning to play some tag. The atmosphere is comfy and the pets look like they love it. This place certainly needs more publicity.
The place has two floors, first floor is mostly food and hamsters. These guys just look adorable, we had to wake them up to take some photo’s. I talked to the manager about how they abuse pets in Kuwait and bleach their entire body so people would find them cuter. The manager was really concerned and really wanted to do something about it.
The 2nd floor has all kinds of playful items your pet can enjoy(photo available in the gallery). This is like a mini cat playground, it should keep your pet occupied for a while. I was surprised to find out these only cost 28KD each. Also furniture savers, they help avoid your cat ripping the sofa to pieces.
I didn’t know there was a spray used to spray on something so that your cat/dog wouldn’t even come near it. I wonder what would happen if you sprayed it on the pet itself, I’m guessing a total nightmare.
At first, I thought these were clothing for kids. They really do look like something you would buy for your child, except their for pets. Although it takes forever to get one to wear it the end result does look cute. There are even football t-shirts.
I passed by their birds and they have a decent collection of birds you can choose from. They use to have parrots and different types of huge birds I would have loved to see but they were all sold unfortunately, more to come.
Pet Zone also sells fish, ones I have never seen before. Forgot to ask them what type of fish was this but it’s really eye-catchy. I would recommend passing by their fish section as they have a huge collection of different types of fish.
Mark from 248am drew a map on how you can get there. It’s pretty simple since it’s so close to both the Avenues Mall and Alghanim X-Cite.
Update: I am not Pet Zone nor do I work there, I just posted about them. To contact Pet Zone directly you can call 2471 9246
If you remember that Japanese guy that ran a marathon shaped as a Google Plus logo just to show how much he loved it. Well that same guy ran almost the same distance of twenty one kilometres to make Apple’s logo as a tribute to Steve Jobs. He used the same tools and drank a ton of water in the process. I wish I was half as healthy as he was.[Source]
Some brands are terrible when it comes to reaching targeted audience. Kids dressed like this might look cool in America, but I would beg to differ in Kuwait. Many would find this objectionable. They seriously look like a couple of guys from the movie Grease, except 20 years younger. Topless kids is not the way to go here. Spotted in 360 Mall.
I read about a UAE Sheik engraving his first name on a dessert located in Abu Dhabi. So I used Google maps to find the location and there it was. Though it was upside down it still looked surreal. The name is 3,200 meters across and 1000 in height. It’s an island he owns in Al Futaisi, which he got a bit too creative with. I guess that’s one way of leaving your name in history.
Update: You can read froyonation’s intake on the story here.
Seems Japan is already in love with the new social platform. Haven’t seen anyone in love with anything to point where he would run around earth making its logo. He used runkeeper and two iPhones, one to see Google Earth and one to track his location. It’s a pretty creative idea, but one that requires a lot of effort. I know many that would rather make the G+ logo by putting cheeseburgers next to each other rather than walking 21 kilometres.[Source]
After complaining about the lack of decent fish & chips places in Kuwait some readers recommended I try this place out. The atmosphere is cosy and the staff are polite. They offer Australian based fish and chips but with a Kuwaiti touch. Everything is healthy, fresh potatoes and sun flower oil for the fish.
Everything they offer is either imported from America, Australia or Italy. I noticed that even includes their water bottles. The fish was cooked like a proper fish & chips meal should be and tasted delicious. My only problem was with the wooden cutlery. It was inconvenient eating the fish with a wooden knife and fork. I would recommend using your hands.
Their potato chips are simply huge, no other place in Kuwait can come near their size. You can either order one fish with chips(4.900 KD) or two fish with chips(5.750 KD) in which you wouldn’t have enough space in your stomach to fit all that potato.
I had to ask the manager what this meant to understand the story behind it. Although I looked at it more than once I never got what it meant. Turns out was the sign for burqa woman, they have their own section to sit so they can feel comfortable eating without any disturbance. Hence “for your eyes.”

I was reading Ansam’s blog about the new discovery of planking. It’s pretty simple, you find a good spot then lay down, straighten your arms and legs and point your fingers. But more importantly, you have to look expressionless. The concept is fairly stupid I must confess, but one person caught my attention. Planking inside a fridge, I hope his not dead.
