A while back one of my friend’s mother needed a surgery but she needed blood donation and sadly her blood type is rare so we contacted as many people as possible to donate. Fortunately we found a website that gives you contact numbers for those who would like to donate their blood.
Thank God everything went well after that. The website is [www.b-blood.org] you only need is to enter your country, city and type of blood then it will give a list of phone numbers for people who share the same blood type.
Many don’t know this but according to studies published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, blood donors are 88% less likely to suffer a heart attack and 33% less likely to suffer any type of cardiovascular event. Also reducing the amount of iron thus cutting the risk of heart disease specially for women.
Things to do before donating
Eat healthy food
Drink a lot of water
Your system must be free of aspirin for two days prior to donation.
It is preferable that you don’t fast at the day you would like to donate because you should drink a cup of juice after donation to avoid dizziness. If you experience dizziness or light-headedness after donation, stop what you are doing and sit down or lie down until you feel better. Avoid performing any activity where fainting may lead to injury for at least 24 hours.
How to donate blood in Kuwait: visit the Central Blood Bank ( بنك الدم المركزي ) in Jabreya next to Health Science Center (كلية الطب ) near to Mubarak Al-Kabeer hospital
Update: b-blood link is down, their server is having issues.
