I might be late on this one but I just found out there’s a designated number to call if you get overcharged in a restaurant. With New Years coming up, restaurants will try to take advantage of bookings and force a minimum charge by limiting meals, which isn’t allowed in Kuwait. Increasing prices for a specific occasion isn’t allowed either.[Source]
The hotline 135 connects to the Consumer Protection Department, after calling and providing your civil ID you can file a complaint on a restaurant or hotel.
- “Restaurants are not allowed to force the customer to pay an increased amount or a minimum charge by forcing him to eat a certain meal,”
- “The restaurant is not allowed to refuse to seat a guest who wants to dine in their place if there is a vacant table, unless it is reserved by another customer”
