There is an insane amount of coffee shops for a country this small right now, it seems whenever I browse a social channel someone is talking about a new speciality coffee shop. There are so many that one opened next to my office recently. I think we’re reaching the point where we’ll be the highest country of caffeine consumption per capita.
We were hungry the other day while we were in Ardeya area and decided to pass by restaurants there. It was hilarious the amount of restaurants and cafes named over social media channels, some of them even named on popular TV shows! Just a few minutes of driving and we found 3 notable places.
There was the Snap Cafe, which one of my Snapchat followers told me has a weird tasting Shisha, I don’t smoke so I wouldn’t know. Then there’s the Instagram Cafe, which does not look appealing at all. Well, obviously a restaurant named over a social media channel is the last place I want to eat in anyway.
Then finally, there’s the Hashtag Restaurant. I remember there was Hashtag Burger restaurant in Kuwait City but it shut down, I didn’t like it anyway. If you don’t frequent my blog, I’ve also written about other social media channels [here] and[here].
An Italian friend finally opened his restaurant, remember those super delicious authentic cannolis made in Quot Market? It was done by him and his wife and now they’ve opened up their dessert shop with plans to launch a set menu of Italian cuisine. I highly recommend you try their cannolis if you haven’t already, I will post a full review soon.

One of my favourite burger joints, which I’ve listed on my top 3 burger places in Kuwait is finally expanding, they’re now opening in Salmiya, Gulf Street in a new mall beside Symphony. They haven’t announced it on their channels, I was hoping to find out their opening date, maybe February next year?
I’ve been learning how to speak Japanese for a while now and I’m so glad I committed to learning this language, it’s a lot of fun to learn and I’ve always wanted to learn Japanese for two reasons:
1. I’ve been watching animes for around two decades now, so Japanese words are well instilled in my brain, except I didn’t know what they mean. I’ve always wanted to watch Japanese animes without looking at subtitles.
2. The Japanese culture, lifestyle and food have always fascinated me, traveling to Japan whilst also speaking their language will be amazing.
So I’m looking for Japanese speakers in Kuwait (preferably native speakers), maybe we can have a bi-monthly hang-out, have coffee and learn from each other. We can have other people that are learning Japanese and just have fun hangouts.
I’ve finished my intermediate course and now moving to the masterclass course (only speaking), but my vocabulary is still relatively low, which is where talking to Japanese speakers really helps expand my volcab.
If you’re a Japanese speaker or are learning Japanese and is interested in bi-monthly/weekly hangouts contact me [here]
It’s one thing to build a game inspired by a popular game, and another to have a complete in-your-face rip-off of a game. I’m a big Clash Royale fan and was shocked when I found out about Tribal Mania, which is basically the same game except they hired a graphic designer to design different characters, to not, you know, have it as copy-paste and risk being taken off the Google Play Store.
Tap & Pay is pretty much what it says it is, you tap your card on the KNET machine, and the money is extracted. If it use to take you on average 30 – 60 seconds to pay, now it will take you 5 seconds. It’s a nice feature, but I do have security concerns. If I lost my
credit card I normally aren’t worried because my card is password protected, but with this payment method, someone can walk around and just tap and pay everywhere.
To use this feature, you’ll have to renew your
credit card to get the Tap & Pay service, from what I understood you cannot opt-out of the service, every new card will be a contactless card whether you like it or not. They currently have an offer with Magnet, one of my favorite places to go study. Wherein if you use the Tap & Pay service, your coffee will be free paid by NBK.
Starting from January 1st, 2017 unauthorized people that use the disabled’s parking spot will be fined up to 200 KD and/or 1 month of jail. I very much endorse this move, if you don’t respect your fellow disabled friends, that doesn’t mean you can take their spot. You can read about [my experience] when I got fed up once and stood next to disabled’s parking lot to tell people they can’t park there.[Source]
I’d love to see [this guy] face a month of jail time.
