Ever since it was introduced in 1958 , the Impala was a top of the line best seller for Chevrolet, it continued as Chevrolet’s most popular full size model through the years, it was considered a muscle car Between 1994 and 1996 when it was powered by the legendary V8 powering the Caprice. it was re-introduced again in the year 2000 as a 4 door sedan, and finally reintroduced as this model I’m reviewing here, the 2014 Impala.
I was given the top of the line LTZ model which has the comfort and convenience package that includes things like the cooled-heated seats, upgraded navigation system, powered steering wheel and the amazing BOSE stereo system plus 20” wheels. The top competitor car list for the Impala includes names like the Ford Taurus, Hyundai Azera, Chrysler 300C and Dodge Charger.
One thing some people might unlike is the fact that the trunk kind of hangs off a bit more than it should be, giving it an unbalanced look. but from all other angles, this car is really a head handsome, and that’s pretty rare for a full size sedan.
The interior is equally well designed, everything seems well put together, reminded me of many German cars I’ve driven. The Impala was fully packed with technology, a big full color touch screen giving you full control of the car settings. The screen itself slides up with a press of a button, revealing a stash box and a USB connector inside of it. Cool thing about this stash box is that you can set it on Valet Mode, ensuring no one else can open it but you using a password. The steering seemed very responsive, the ride was comfortable and quiet.
Talking about the power plant behind this strong sedan, a DOHC 24-valve 3.6-liter V-6 engine, generating 305 hp at 264 lb-ft does a really amazing job of moving this car forward, proving that today’s V6 engines are capable of delivering the same kind of power earlier V8 engines used to deliver in the past. it’s amazingly strong and fast and powerful. Also worth mentioning that the new Impala is a front-wheel-drive vehicle.
Wrapping up the Impala LTZ review, I’m confident that this all-new Impala could be a class leading model for all sedans, it’s visually attractive, comfortable, quiet, well composed and has all the things you might want, need or expect. If you haven’t thought of buying a large sedan recently, then this is the car that might change your mind, and have you re-consider, it certainly did that to me.
