Ladurée opened four days ago in 360 Mall as both a cafe and store. The famous macarons come frozen from France to Kuwait so the quality is just as good. Other desserts like cakes are made in Kuwait. We tried their signature Ispahan and a Carre Chocolate along with a handful of macarons.
The flavours we ordered were [Chocolat – Framboise(Rasberry) – Orange Blossom – Pistachi – Vanilla – Caramel(with butter)]. Their cafe currently offers 13 macaron flavours so we tried to try a variety of different tastes. One macaron will cost you 750 fils each. If you order 4 macarons the price would be 2.750KD.
My favourites were the chocolate, orange blossom and caramel. But the caramel was really heavy so for those looking for something light, I do not recommend a caramel macaron. Wasn’t a fan of the Framboise but I liked how cold from inside the macarons were.
When we first arrived, while the waitress was cleaning the table next to us. We saw an Ispahan cake laying around with just a bite at the edge. If you were in France people would highly recommend it but I wouldn’t necessarily say the same about Kuwait. After ordering the cake I just couldn’t finish it, didn’t like the taste overall. It’s probably because I’m a huge chocolate fan and this is the furthest thing from chocolate.
Carre Chocolat was undoubtedly my favourite. It’s very heavy filled with layers of chocolate but that made it even better. If your visting for a cup of coffee or tea with something at the side, you might want to look elsewhere. This ones for the people that want a weighty dessert. Ladurée also offers main meals for those interested in visiting for lunch but with very limited options, meaning not a big variety of meals.
Overall the service was great, the staff were very polite and the desserts arrived in a timely manner. For those of you who have already tried Ladurée elsewhere whether it was France, London or somewhere else. I do suggest trying it here as well.
