I was invited back to Oliversan to try their new main courses (you can see the initial review here). What I like about Oliversan is you can order popular dishes from Maki like Essa Maki or from Zee Burger since they are all owned by the same person. Three guys could all be ordering from 3 restaurants all at once.
We tried what I call their mountain crispy salad, this is what it looks like when served, then a waiter crunches it up for you so that all the crispy bits are mixed with the salad. It’s a bit too much for one person so I do recommend it gets shared, the only other mountain salad I can think of is the one at Slider Station.
Their first new dish I tried was the Kung Pao Smoked Salmon, it’s pretty clear they work hard on the presentation. The salmon was cooked the way I prefer it and it’s something I wouldn’t mind ordering again later. Comes with ginger, bok choy, spring onions, peas, carrots, and garlic, drizzled with spicy sauce.
My friend tried their Braised Smoked Short Ribs, which was the second new dish on the menu. I’m not a beef lover much so I told him to try it and share his thoughts. It was pretty good, definitely something worth trying if you like ribs. They come with a special sauce and oolong tea leaves.
We couldn’t not have a burger so fortunately they had mini-burgers. We just had the Classic Cheese Burgers and they tasted good, there are a lot of mini-burgers on their menu but I’m not sure if there are standard-sized ones. For those interested you can read my Zee Burger review here and here.
I had space for dessert but the person with me didn’t. Although he suddenly had a lot of space and appetite when the dessert was set on the table. If anything, this is the number one item I recommend ordering from the menu, it was delicous. The mix of vanilla ice cream with soft biscuit was just right.
