Alshaya has launched their own platform for delivery or pick up which including Pizza Express, Potbelly, Pinkberry, PF.Changs, Asha’s, Sprinkles and Garrett. The place i’d likely to order from isn’t there yet, Shake Shack. You can either order for a delivery or pickup.
The website feels like it’s a 2008 version of Talabat, the interface is old but sort of responsive to mobile. They’re planning to launch an Android and iOS version soon. Haven’t tried ordering anything yet but might post about the experience once I do.[Website]
Muji will be opening on Saturday 19th December January at 5p.m at the Grand Avenue. I passed by yesterday and fell in love with the whole place to the point where I want to visit Japan. You get to learn a lot of their culture, lifestyle, the way they approach concepts and much more just by passing by Muji. I’ve taken photos of some the cool I’ve spotted.
This is their popular stainless steel card case. I got one of these as a gift from a friend that went to Muji France. Business cards always bend and start looking bad when in your wallet for a long time. So this is a great alternative since the steel prevents the cards from bending, the business cards will look like they were just printed yesterday.
A staff member at Muji had to explain to me that this tiny box had the exact shirt he was holding. Muji uses advanced pressure machines to pack these shirts in the form of a small boxes. They’re great for travelling and saving up space. They don’t shrink back to their original size however, so keep that in mind.
These are called lint rollers, you roll them on clothing and it will wipe off all the lint or any other small fibers, it works on most materials including clothing, upholstery and linen. The roller only costs KD 2.000 and is refillable if I’m not mistaken. They remove dog and cat hair entirely in a matter of seconds, which is why I love them.
Bean bags are very popular and are hard to find, specially good quality ones. The moment I sat on one I sarcastically told staff they can leave me here and go home now, the bean bags are too comfortable you wouldn’t want to get up. The red one of the left has harder material while the one of the right has softer material. Costs KD 75 total per bean bag.
The Muji CD Player is super friendly. To switch it on or off all you need to do is pull the cable hanging from the device, very easy to do when in the dark or sleepy. It plays the radio or whatever CD you play on it. The speaker is built-in and when played it does get pretty loud if you want it to, costs KD 65 which isn’t a bad deal.
It’s sad to see Totally Fish go, I know many traditional see food lovers that are upset about this. The good news however is it will be split into two different stores. Pizza Express and Pinkberry will be taking its place in The Avenues Mall. This means there will be two Pinkberry’s a few meters apart from one another, the irony of yoghurt stores.
