I can’t wait to see someone eating machboos with his hands on 5th ring road one day. Although we have the highest car accident rate per capita in the world, we sure have a lot of ways for staying right up there. I saw this ad in an instagram account and couldn’t believe such a thing existed.
In a very odd case, Kuwait’s civil court has ordered a compensation of 1,500 KD to a woman that thought she was buying an authentic bag on instagram for 500 KD but then found out it was a counterfeit. Due to the psychological damages she had to go through after this, she will get paid 1,500 KD. Does that mean all woman buying stuff from fishy instagram accounts can file for damages now?[Source]
I don’t follow any popular figures on Snapchat, mostly friends and my blog’s readers. I do however, follow Sheikh Majed even though people complain he posts way too much. I like following him because unlike the other popular figures it’s not about his life but rather about something interesting every day. It can be about a historical event no one knew about, or a product, or how a marketing brand made a huge impact (all in Arabic).
Recently he discussed a sensitive issue between woman, weddings. I didn’t care much about it, but inbetween his video posts he wanted to post the amount of screenshots people were taking of his snaps, with it the viewership of his fans was revealed. A shocking 1.2 million views per video. That’s like half of the entire country watching his videos.
This isn’t comparable with instagram followers, it’s much better because on instagram many of your followers are inactive, or simply didn’t watch your post because they follow too many people or they were busy. I posted few months back that Al Ahmadi Live reached 4 million viewers on Snapchat. This means Sheikh Majed Al Sabah is getting over 25% of the viewership of the entire Snapchat Live coverage, that’s crazy.
To put his numbers in a different perspective, Snapchat is rolling out 10 second video ads that will be seen for the US in between the Discovery videos, they cost a brand 2 cents per view. So if Sheikh Majed Al Sabah were to post a video and receive that same amount, he would make a whopping $24,000 (~ 7,250 KD) per video. Keeping in mind he posts 10’s sometimes 100’s of videos every day.
He’s no doubt the most followed person on Snapchat in Kuwait, possibly the region. Username: majedalsabah
I didn’t like instagram’s old layout on web, this one is a lot more cleaner and best of all they have removed the images on top that change randomly. My last post on instagram was 7 weeks ago, there’s just too many social channels to keep up with. I like SnapChat more because I don’t need to worry about the image looking pixel perfect and taken from the best angle.

I announced they were going to delete fake and spam accounts but I didn’t think this would work because instagram did the same thing sometime last year and barely anything changed. This time however, big numbers in difference. Some celebs lost over 50% of their followers. This isn’t to say everyone on the list bought followers, some lost thousands but that’s just a small portion of their followers still, while others lost a massive amount.
Note: Followers lost are rounded to the nearest 1,000, I only included celebrities that lost 5,000+ followers
Credit goes to an anonymous user that sent in all the screenshots of the accounts before instagram deleted fake/spam followers. If anyone spots anymore (with proof) tell me and I might add them to the list.
I wrote about the Lithium Card earlier this year then they sent me one for review which I really liked. Now it has officially reached Kuwait and the supplier is selling it for KD 14 which is cheaper than Amazon (without counting shipping cost). Below is a video from their local instagram.

According to a recent study, the divorce rate in Kuwait has been on the raise with social media playing a huge role in destroying families. The 21% who are divorced are mostly female, study suggest the increase in divorce rate is partly due “changes in women’s social statuses and in the measures followed on selecting a mate”.
More Kuwaiti men are marrying expats because of expensive dowries and high cost of weddings. It’s interesting seeing how instagram plays a role in this, I’ve read once about a husband that divorced his wife because of likes from other men on her pictures, and another case after a husband found his wife had another instagram account which she had immoral content on.[Source]
I posted about Shaquille O’Neal accepting to follow people on instagram or twitter for a fee last month (he has millions of followers). I also mentioned for contributing $150 to his new game you will get your voice featured in one of the characters, I bought that package for the fun of it.
I have no idea how it will turn out, hope they don’t ask me to play a voice-over of an Arab terrorist because I speak Arabic. All I know is it will be pretty funny for me playing the game and hearing my voice.
