I’ve always been a chocolate person but this time around I ordered their just released Picklava because why not. It’s called Picklava because it has baklava pieces in it (Wikipage). It exceeded all my expectations, definitely something I’d order again, sadly it’s a temporary Ramadan flavor though.
Someone was going to say it, other than being the food capital, it’s also the obesity capital. This quick documentary, powered by chocolateness and a few other brands talks about the quality of food in Kuwait as well as future plans to make Kuwait the food capital of the world.
I do agree, Kuwait is popular for it’s quality of food, I know people from all over the world that come to Kuwait for the sole reason of trying restaurants they’ve handpicked before coming. However, it can’t be the only focus to develop Kuwait, we have to look at the bigger picture.
We finally have something I like in Qurtoba Co-op, before that we only had Burger King, a fatayer place, a shawerma place, Caribou (which use to be my only go to place) and Quiznoss (which I kind of like). It looks really nice from the inside but it’s so packed, didn’t bother waiting in line. I’m really hoping after Ramadan traffic will reduce significantly.
I have bad news and good news for Qurtoba. The good news being Elevation opening soon obviously, located right next to Burger King. The bad news is a source told me Pick Yo won’t be opening up and instead have decided to close their branch which is disappointing, I was planning to frequent that place like crazy being so close to home. The Pick Yo news isn’t 100% accurate but I guess I’ll have to settle with burgers instead of frozen yoghurt for the time being.
A relative recommended we go try Eighty Six, a new burger place that opened close to Little Ruby’s in Kuwait City. What I was more interested in was their doner burger. We arrived and the place was packed with a big line waiting at the cashier. Too bad I later found out they have good cookies, didn’t get to try them.
I’ve heard good things about their burgers so I’ll definitely try it on my next visit. The organic doner burger was okay, it wasn’t great and one isn’t enough to fill you up. So when we were done we passed by Pick Yo so I could order a chocolate filled froyo to fill the gap. They’re more like Elevation but with doners.
I’ve been a fan of Pick Yo well before it started trending, and what I don’t like about it trending is I can no longer schedule meetings there anymore, because it’s too packed and too hot. Qurtoba residents are going to love having it though, there’s barely anything in the co-op area apart from Burger King, Caribou and a shawerma place.
