According to leaked documents the Samaung Galaxy S6 will start at KD 210 for the 32GB and KD 235 for the 64GB, unfortunately it appears they won’t be officially releasing the 128GB version in Kuwait. While the Samsung Galaxy Edge will go for KD 250 for 32GB and KD 275 for 64GB. I feel both are overpriced.
When the Galaxy S3 was released in Kuwait it was for KD 189, while the Galaxy S4 was for KD 202. Two hundred Kuwaiti Dinars would be the max I would pay for an Android phone, while the Edge is selling for KD 275. It’s also worth considering Samsung has been losing market share drastically and the prices aren’t helping them gain anything back.
I got lucky and was able to get hands-on with the Galaxy SIII before its release date thanks to Wataniya. I must say although the hardware specifications didn’t change a lot they have massively improved Touchwiz. The first thing you notice while playing around on the touch screen is how smooth the user interface has become with the new Quad Core processor.
Touchwiz now comes with “S Voice“, basically a Siri duplicate with a similar interface. The voice recognition is very accurate, way better than what I have on my Galaxy Nexus. S Voice can do commands like opening an application, browsing the web, setting the alarm or even unlocking your device with your voice. The device also comes with “S Beam” which is similar to Android Beam except you can send large data files like videos and pictures. I still found the nature sound effects irrelevant but the overall performance of the device is impressive. “Burst Shot” as seen on video lets you take 20 shots in a matter of seconds.
The device is expected to be released in the US on May 25th with a price tag of $799 (KD ~223). That’s the price of the 16GB version, the Galaxy SIII comes as 16GB, 32GB or 64GB and includes a memory card slot. It’s thinner than my Galaxy Nexus and lighter. The physical feel isn’t amazing but is better than the Galaxy SII.
