Sloan’s Ice Cream popular for their Ice cream, toys, sweets and their toilets apparently is coming to Kuwait. I haven’t tried them but I guess the closest thing to them is Marble Slab. It’s opening in The Promenade which is located in Hawally and presumable within a few days. [Source]
A group of Kuwaiti students from different majors put this video together to portray racism in Kuwait but from a different perspective. It shows you the hypocrite type, the racist type and the peaceful type. The smartest thing they’ve done was to divert the racism to sweets rather than politics or religious values.
It’s worth a watch.
English readers can watch it too, make sure the video caption is enabled.
DietCenter made a comical informative video involving what to do compared to what not to do during the holy month of Ramadan when it comes to food. Ramadan is not a food competition, you don’t have to think about what you’re going to eat all day. For those that don’t understand Arabic, I bullet point their tips.
Don’t eat a whole day worth of food in 30 minutes, food consumption has to be in phases
Drink water regularly, not soda. To avoid your stomach getting dry
I received an attractively wrapped box from a popular sweets place on instagram called istanbuliyah. According to their bio they specialize in pistachio cakes but what I got was a sugar dose of delicious red velvet. I instantly like a brand when they have good branding, we all do but not all of us realize it. They did a great job with the packaging.
The red velvet cupcakes looked so good I didn’t want to eat them. They come with white cream that’s sugar-coated. Although I’m not a big cupcake fan I really like those, great with a cup of coffee or tea. I think they only come in dozens (boxes of 12 pieces each). Istanbuliyah also has a variety of Arabian sweets.
Passed by a new café located in Burj Jassem with a new concept. Instead of being just another cupcake store this place specializes in gelato ice cream. For those wondering gelato is similar to ice cream except with less fat and less air whipped into the mixture. This place is totally cosy and best of all smoke-free, will be added to the cosy-list.
They have different cakes and sweets that are served with gelato. Everything they do is made fresh every morning which includes their gelato and is not imported. They also serve frozen yoghurt which I tried and liked. If you’re just looking for a clam place to have coffee and read a book for example this is a good place.
Of course one of my favorites is gelato cookies. They taste very different in comparison to standard cookies since they’re stuffed with ice cream. They’re kind of small so I recommend having a cookie all in one go to avoid making a mess.
Angelato specialize in macaroons. They had a lot of different macaroons when I was there and the manager told me if there is a specific color a customer is looking for they will custom make macaroons for them with that color. These are nice when ordered for wedding or ceremonies.
The place also offers delivery, since most of what they serve melts when not being refrigerated for a long time they are packed in boxes with crushed ice. The packaging leaves the items fresh for upto 4 hours. They are planning on having dry ice which can last longer. I think for big deliveries you have to contact them hours ahead.
I would like to thank Zain, Viva and Bayan Dental for the thoughtful greeting cards and gifts. This is my first Ramadan as a blogger and I can’t wait to hit my first blogiversary. Day 1 of Ramadan wasn’t as hard as I thought, in fact less than 2 hours left and things are going pretty smooth. I just hope it continues that way throughout the month.
